Earlier this week a stray dog trying to seek shelter from the torrential rains in Mumbai was mercilessly beaten up! The helpless dog was found convulsing, unable to get to his own feet and is now in a coma. With the extent of injuries the dog’s fate lies in uncertainty. The photos and videos circulating on social media have been horrifying!

The street dog was beaten up by the security guards at Worli’s Turf View apartment at the behest of the resident, Mr. Bhatia. An FIR has been registered with the Worli Police Station by Bombay Animal Rights on 27/7/19 under IPC sections 429 and 34, along with the Prevention of along with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Further, the security guards have been let out on bail.

While movie stars, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Mailika Arora and John Abraham have taken to social media on the extremely inhumane act, it’s time for us as a society to put a stop to this cruelty! Mr. Bhatia and the security guards need to apologise for this heinous act, and commit to ensure this is never repeated in the future.
