• Dedicated cycle tracks and lanes for cyclists.
• Operationalizing Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA) and fast tracking non-motorized transport (NMT) policy
• Cycle stands and parking spaces near major public transport stations, offices and markets.
• Better safety conditions for cyclists including more street lighting, developed roads and better design of major junction crossings.
• More public washrooms with cycle parking spots.
• Tabling the Active Mobility Bill.
Why is this important?
With over 40 of the world’s major cities planning to go cycle and pedestrian-friendly, it's time our city shows the same intelligence and pro-environment action.
Using personal motor vehicles, experts agree, will not just congest the roads but will pollute the city air which will worsen our respiratory system.
Cycling/walking is a proven way to ensure public health and general well-being.
Collective voice forces political action and it is important for us as a progressive city of the world, to enable and encourage non-motorised transport (NMT) on our roads as our commitment to doing our bit for the environment. This is for our health and the safety of many pedestrians and cyclists on the road!
