Prajwal Revanna’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a special court in Bengaluru. Ahead of his anticipated return to India on May 31, 2024, a special court for Elected Representative dismissed Revanna’s bail application filed by his advocate Arun.

  • Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who was served a notice by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to appear for questioning within 24 hours, has sought seven days’ time to do so, through his lawyers. He made the following statement - “I am not in Bangalore to attend the enquiry. I have communicated to the CID Bangalore through my advocate. Truth will prevail soon.”

  • The SIT has got a lookout circular against Prajwal Revanna issued to all immigration points across India. This means Prajwal Revanna will be detained as soon as he reports at any of the immigration points at airports, sea ports, or at border checkposts.

  • Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and to ensure the return of the ‘absconding’ MP to India to ‘face the full force of the law’.

  • The Special Investigation Team (SIT) responsible for probing this case has summoned Prajwal Revanna and his father to appear before it for investigation within the next 24 hours.

Prajwal Revanna, a member of India's parliament from Karnataka, seeking re-election this year in the Lok Sabha constituency called Hassan, has been under scrutiny for being accused of sexually abusing multiple women over the last few years and recording the acts on his phone. Hassan constituency went to polls only last week, on the 26th of April, 2024.

The Karnataka police has registered a case against Revanna and HD Revanna, his father, who is an MLA and ex-state minister, on charges of sexual harassment, stalking, intimidation and outraging the dignity of a woman. The state government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the allegations.

Revanna has not been questioned or detained. He fled India to go to Europe soon after the leaked videos surfaced.

While Revanna has denied the allegations and filed a police complaint alleging that the videos are manipulated, soon after the videos were circulated, two women have come forth accusing Revanna of sexual abuse.

Separately, another woman, a 47-year-old who was a domestic worker at the politician's home, filed a police complaint alleging that she too had been sexually abused by Revanna multiple times between 2019 and 2022 and once by his father HD Revanna.

We’re urging the concerned authorities to conduct a fair trial on the father-son duo and ensure immediate action is taken.

Decision makers:

  • Karnataka State Government

  • Karnataka Police

  • Special Investigation Team (SIT)

Demands:

  • Bring Prajwal Revanna back to India

  • Conduct and ensure fair trial of both Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna

  • Probe the allegations without any compromise
